Then & Now: Covers Collection has had a few more editions added.

Our covers collection of originals and remakes.

Spent a big of time making a couple more editions of the Then & Now covers series I've started up. If you're a fan of cover music, it's a pretty solid mix of songs. Forty tracks in all; the original is first, followed by the remade cover version. If you wanna take a look at the playlists that have been made up so far, I've got them all listed below. If you're on Playlists.net you can also follow me over there to see when I'm adding new lists. Click here to follow me on Playlists.net.

Playlist - 100 Feel Good Summer Jams

So I'm a little behind on writing this post, but that's alright. It gave it time for the playlist to take off a little bit.

Anyways, to bring you up to date, here's my first "success" of a playlist. (I say success because I thought I'd get maybe 25 to 30 followers or so... so far it's up to 221 and growing).

I threw together a little summer time playlist for all your hot and sweaty nights spent playing flipcup with your alcoholic friends. Or being completely sober. Whatever your summer theme is, there's a little bit of something for everyone on this playlist.

If you're already a Spotify user, head over and check it out by clicking here. If you aren't, go get yourself an account and start your own magical journey.

But back on topic.. so this playlist is all about feel good, windows rolled down, yelling obscenities at strangers, debating whether to say the "n" word as you're making an ass of yourself in the car trying to sing California Love, type of playlist. Now before you go worrying that it is all rap, I assure you that it is not. Need a few examples? Here you go: 311, Montell Jordan, Jimmy Buffett, Lou Bega, Paul Simon, Flogging Molly, Asia, Fischerspooner. I'd say that covers a lot of the bases.

Enjoy.

Pink Floyd is on the verge of joining Spotify. We can all rejoice.

Just a few days ago, I caught wind of a discussion on Reddit that Pink Floyd was releasing music to Spotify. I about jumped for joy at this announcement. I logged in and hurried to the Floyd page to find... Wish You Were Here. Was this a mistake? I searched again. And then I saw it. Once the song hit one million views, the entire Pink Floyd catalog would be introduced to the Spotify world. The last I heard, after less than 24 hours up, the song had hit 350,000 streams already. Hell yeah. This is the best news to happen to Spotify since they got the nod to start up.

As of today, Wish You Were Here is still the only song available. Want to help reach the goal of one million listens? Click here to listen to 'Wish You Were Here' on Spotify.

So once this happens and Pink Floyd becomes the first of the "big names" holding out.. what other notable bands are left off? Here's a short list of the bigger names still not appearing on Spotify:

  • Led Zeppelin
  • The Beatles
  • The Eagles
  • Tool
  • AC/DC
  • Peter Gabriel
Here's to hoping that the release of Pink Floyd's music, including the groundbreaking albums 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'The Wall', will help the others think about having their music released. I know that there are a lot of free accounts that pay nothing to listen, but that completely ignores the fact that most of the crowd on here is young and will continue to listen to music they find for free. If you want to pull in new, younger generations, let them be able to stream it easily. You're still getting revenue, and although it's not like you need the fans, it helps your music continue to live on in a generation that needs it most.

Thank you, Pink Floyd. Your fans are going to be bat shit happy about the end results with this.

Is it just me, or does that really look like Leonardo DiCaprio? (Future movie idea, you heard it here first)

So it's back to the basics; Grand Re-Opening!

For anyone that has been following me, you've obviously noticed I've gone through multiple changes since deciding to start up this project. After several failed attempts, I decided to just get back to the simplicity of sharing. I didn't want to have 800 different pages for multiple links and all that ridiculous shit. Nobody wants to navigate through tons of different sections trying to find stuff. So from here on out, it's all blog fashion, and everything else will tie into the networks I'm on to share music and info.

Anyways, thanks to those of you that stuck around through the layovers. I think this will be the easiest route and probably the best in terms of just being able to have fun and share music and thoughts. I'm sure I'll probably post some really dumb links, offend some people, share music that's so bad it's good (here's looking at you, Wham!, and that little gem of a track we know as "Careless Whisper"), and everything in between. So up front, if any of those things happen to you, please accept this as my formal apology. I love you all and hope to enjoy this musical journey with you... whatever the hell it may be.

Cheers.
